We would like to warmly draw your attention to a special masterclass organized by the Hungarian Music Society of Romania (RMZT) (http://www.rmzt.ro), whose mission is to promote Hungarian musical culture in Romania and support young talents. Our activities are carried out exclusively on a non-profit basis, through grants and sponsorships.

About the Masterclass

At the invitation of the RMZT, Kati Debretzeni – professor at the Royal Conservatoire The Hague and honorary concertmaster of the English Baroque Soloists, who has worked with such distinguished musicians as J. E. Gardiner, F. Brüggen, S. Rattle, V. Jurowski, and I. Fischer – will visit Cluj-Napoca from 23–27 November to give a masterclass in historically informed performance practice.

Her presence represents a rare and valuable opportunity: participants will have direct access to international-level knowledge and expertise that is otherwise difficult to access locally.

Who is it for?

The course is primarily intended for conservatory students and outstanding secondary-school students who are interested in historically informed performance practice. Professional musicians are, of course, also welcome to apply.

The repertoire will focus on early music, up to and including the music of J. S. Bach. Applicants are encouraged, where possible, not to submit only works by Bach. We also welcome applications from small chamber ensembles.

Participation Conditions

The participation fee is expected to be EUR 100, which includes:

  • at least two individual sessions
  • lunch during the masterclass

This reduced fee is made possible thanks to various foundation grants received by the RMZT.

Applicants will first undergo a video pre-selection process, with applications divided into two age groups:

  • University students – with a video recording of up to 20 minutes
  • Secondary-school students – with a video recording of up to 15 minutes

How to Apply

To apply, please upload your recorded programme to a free video-sharing platform (YouTube, Vimeo, etc.) and send the link, together with the applicant’s details (name, age group, and selected programme), to [info@rmzt.ro].

The recording should preferably be of good quality, and the audio should not be recorded solely with a mobile phone.

The application deadline is 15 October 2026, but we kindly ask applicants to indicate their intention to participate as soon as possible.

The organizers will provide highly discounted accommodation and meal options.

The participation fee is payable only after an application has been accepted.

We warmly ask you to recommend this opportunity to your talented students and to share it with your colleagues as well.
